ConcertsJuly 2008 - Def Leppard use Mojo Barriers for crowd safety systems and more

The classic heavy rockers Def Leppard and Whitesnake left nothing to chance when they specified Mojo Barriers crowd safety facilities for their latest UK tour. Mojo Barriers supplied 50 metres of its aluminium barrier system as well as barrier corner units which allowed the barrier to entirely surround the bespoke stage shape.

Def LeppardLeon van der Velden was Mojo Barriers’ Project Manager, responsible for planning and installing the barrier system at the band’s 10 UK shows.

He said: “Def Leppard and Whitesnake are obviously two big artists for one line-up. So, with enthusiastic arena crowds, they were keen to work to the highest possible safety standards. This was a very well organised tour, with production manager Rocko Reedy switching between the UK tour indoor venues and outdoor European festivals. At this busy time of year, logistics were all spot on.”

Netherlands-based Mojo Barriers also provided a Prolyte Easy Frame T-shaped performance walkway projecting from the main stage. A 2m wide x 5m catwalk linked to a 5m x 3m B stage, all with a Stage DEX surface, gave the band plenty of opportunity to get up close with their fans.

“Mojo Barriers have become the industry standard for safety, reliability, flexibility, and strength,” says Rocko Reedy. “I never have to worry about the barrier, when their products are in use. They are lightweight, versatile and strong enough to take the biggest shows. On the latest tour, they also provided a strong, lightweight, and flexible deck system for a downstage thrust as well as the barrier. Throughout the years I have worked with them, Mojo Barriers have given me peace of mind for my production needs. I am sure I will be using them for many years to come.”
